Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences A.K. Alikberov received Director of the Chinggis Khaan Museum, Academician S. Chuluun, discussed organizing a joint research conference and other areas of cooperation. A conference on the analysis of the results of research on Altai civilization is planned to be held in Barnaul, Russia, in September, and Academician S. Chuluun was invited to the conference as an honored guest.
He stated that he has an important responsibility to fulfill before the Mongolian people and Mongolists. It is to revive the once-strong tradition of Mongolian studies that existed at the Institute. He emphasized the need to intensify research particularly in the field of language study, which is why they had recently published “The Mongolian Secret History” in Russian. Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, Academician S. Chuluun, welcomed the proposal and expressed support for organizing joint academic conferences and roundtable discussions.
For instance, in collaboration with the Institute of Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the academic conference titled “Cultural Heritage of the Mongols: Manuscript and Archival Collections” has been successfully organized annually for the past 13 years without interruption. It was noted that similar conferences could continue to be held on a regular basis. As a token of this cooperation, a 12-volume series published under the project “Mongolian Heritage Spread around the World”, featuring selected research materials, was presented to A.K. Alikberov as a gift.
