“ANIMAL STYLE ART DEPICTED IN XIONGNU FELT CARPET” ART EDUCATION PROGRAM

This educational program introduces for young museum visitors a unique cultural heritage of Xiongnu animal style art, which carpet is displayed in the “Hall of Ancient states of Mongolia” of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum. Xiongnu animal art being made from hard and soft materials is a felt with embroidery found in the tomb of a Xiongnu nobleman in Batsumber, Bornuur soum, Tuv province. This carpet features nine pairs of animal motifs embroidered in colorful threads. Four of them are images of winged mythical beasts mounted on the back of fleeing deers or elks.

Children, the future of our country, have the opportunity to paint this artwork in any colors they prefer, allowing them to express their creativity and develop their thinking abilities in the museum environment.

In addition, the program aims to create a motivation for the little museum visitors to be interested in and respect their history and culture. Material cost: 3000 tugriks.
