At the 16th meeting of the Asian Storytelling Committee, Mongolia was elected as the chair and host country for the next session. August 22, 2025, the 17th meeting is being held at the Chinggis Khaan National Museum in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The Asian Storytelling Committee was established in 2009 at the initiative of the Asian Cultural Center under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea in cooperation with the ministries of culture of Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan). The scope of cooperation has expanded with the accession of Azerbaijan and Mongolia in 2022, and the National Asian Cultural Center (ACC) of the Republic of Korea serves as the secretariat.
Since its establishment, the committee has published more than 30 children's books on the themes of myths, history, and epics of member countries. Many of these works have been brought to life on stage and screen in the form of plays, musicals, and digital content, bringing them to global audiences.
Additionally, since beginning operations in 2015, the Asia Culture Center has received more than 19 million visitors and implemented over 1,900 cultural programs, two-thirds of which were developed by the center itself.
At this meeting, participants reviewed the issues included in the official agenda and presented the committee’s annual activity report. A notable feature of this session is that it is being held in conjunction with the global cultural festival “Nomad.”
