The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn, who is paying an official visit to Mongolia, together with her husband Simeon Beckett, toured the halls of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum and paid respects to the Golden Statue of Chinggis Khaan in the museum’s Grand Hall of Honor. The distinguished guests were respectfully welcomed by Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sport, Travel and Youth of Mongolia Ch. Undram and Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum S. Chuluun, who also provided them with detailed explanations.
They also visited the museum's special exhibition hall and viewed the special exhibition “The Great Emperor Chinggis Khaan”, and Governor Samantha Mostyn wrote her impressions and signed the Guest of Honor’s book of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, leaving a mark in the historical relations between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the visit, members of the press asked the Governor-General to share her views on the outcomes and significance of the visit.
As a side note, it is noteworthy that the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Bill Hayden, visited Mongolia in 1994, 31 years ago and President P. Ochirbat of Mongolia paid a visit to Australia in 1997.
