Special exhibition “LINEAGE OF CHINGGIS KHAAN’S LAMA (KHUTUGTU): THE GREAT EASTERN REVIVAL”

MASTERPIECES OF THE UNDUR GEGEEN ZANABAZAR AT THE CHINGGIS KHAAN NATIONAL MUSEUM

According to the Resolution No. 200 of the Government of Mongolia of 2024, the 390th anniversary of the birth of the prominent figure of Mongolian state, religion, and culture, Undur Gegeen Zanabazar, is being celebrated this year and a variety of events are being organized. One of them, “Mongolian National Pride” Day, is the special “LINEAGE OF CHINGGIS KHAAN’S LAMA (KHUTUGTU): THE GREAT EASTERN REVIVAL” at the Chinggis Khaan National Museum from November 20 to 29, 2025. 

The exhibition will present selected masterpieces created by the hand of Zanabazar himself-works imbued with spiritual consecration and inner tranquility, brought to life through exceptional artistry and aesthetic refinement. These unique creations, unmatched in their beauty and craftsmanship, will be displayed together in one place for the public to appreciate. Academician Byambyn Rinchen once described Undur Gegeen as “He was the Michelangelo of Asia.”

The special exhibition “LINEAGE OF CHINGGIS KHAAN’S LAMA (KHUTUGTU): THE GREAT EASTERN REVIVAL,” organized under the patronage of the President of Mongolia in honor of National Pride Day, will be held in the temporary exhibition hall on the 9th floor of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum from November 21 to 29, 2025.
