Commemorative stamps have carried national pride and cultural heritage across the world, transcending time.
On the occasion of the “Mongolian Pride Day”, within the framework of the 390th anniversary of the birth of the Undur Gegeen Zanabazar, a commemorative stamp honoring this eminent figure, who created invaluable cultural heritage, has been issued and will be distributed internationally through postal circulation starting today.
The official ceremony for launching the stamp into international postal use was held on November 21, 2025, in the “Silver Tree” Hall of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, where the specially designed block stamp was presented to the public.
Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Ch. Undram inaugurated the ceremony, noting: “This stamp features a sacred portrait of the Venerable Zanabazar holding a bell and vajra, with decorative elements inspired by Zanabazar’s symbolic motifs. The reverse side includes a passage from the ‘Janlavtsogzol’ scripture in Tibetan script, symbolizing the aspiration for global harmony. This is a particularly distinctive feature of the new stamp.”
The stamp was created by B. Bayarkhuu and designer J. Gankhuyag, who depicted the works of porcelain artist H. Khadkhuu, and included heart mantras in Tibetan script on the back.
In the history of Mongolian postage, seven stamps with the theme “Zanabazar’s Works” were issued in 1988.
