
Within the framework of the “Khaans’ Road” program initiated by the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, the “National Script and Calligraphy Training” (2026.05.12–16) was organized in Delgerkhaan soum of Tuv Province. The soum is being developed into a “Script Soum” with the aim of promoting the use of the traditional Mongolian script, supporting literacy and cultural education in local communities, and increasing citizens’ participation in cultural activities.
The training was conducted in conjunction with the historical and cultural heritage of the Duut Rock inscriptions in the soum, local history and cultural heritage, and previously implemented cultural activities. It aimed to provide national script education to local residents, general education school teachers, and students, and to raise awareness of the historical tradition of Mongolian writing and the value of national cultural heritage.
The training was led by calligrapher and artist G. Jaakhanhuu and calligrapher and linguistics master’s student B. Oyunsaikhan. Participants received basic knowledge of the traditional Mongolian script, letter styles, brush writing techniques, and practical calligraphy training. A joint exhibition was also organized to present participants’ works to the public. The event concluded successfully, emphasizing the importance of preserving the written heritage of the Mongols as an inseparable part of its history, culture, and intellectual legacy, as well as supporting the creative participation of children and youth in passing it on to future generations.
The main organizer was the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, and co-organizers were the “Khokh Bichig” Academy of Writing and Culture, the Department of Culture, Arts, Tourism, and Youth of Tuv Province, the Delgerkhaan soum Public Library and Secondary School of Tuv Province.
