“Chinggis Khaan” Exhibition to be Held at the South Korea’s National Palace Museum Next Year

S. Chuluun, Director of the National Museum of the Chinggis Khaan and Academician, and T. Enkhtungalag, Head of the Center for Foreign Relations and Cooperation, paid an official visit to the Republic of Korea from July 23–28, 2026. During the visit, they held official meetings with representatives including Huh Min, Adminstrator of the Korea Heritage Service, Lee Eun-seok, Director of the National Research Institute of Maritime Heritage, and Bae Minseong, Director of the National Palace Museum.

As a result of the official meeting, a team of South Korean specialists is scheduled to visit Mongolia this September. Together with the team from the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, will conduct preliminary surveys and site reconnaissance at designated areas to prepare for underwater excavation and research.

The two sides reached concrete agreements on cooperation in the field of cultural heritage, underwater archaeological research, and the organization of special exhibitions. They agreed to hold a special exhibition titled “Chinggis Khaan” at the National Palace Museum of Korea in November next year, and preparations have officially begun.

During the visit, the representatives of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum attended a special sailing event in Pusan as guests of honor, featuring a reconstructed Joseon Dynasty merchant vessel restored by the National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage
