The special exhibition " Winds from the Great Ocean to the Steppe: RAPHAEL AND BERNINI," which highlights the work “Portrait” by the famous Italian Renaissance painter Raphael Sanzio and the “Bronze Sculpture” by Gian Lorenzo Bernini artists who have remained at the center of attention for art historians and art lovers across generations, is currently on display for the public at the Chinggis Khaan National Museum.
In connection with the exhibition and to enrich the knowledge of visitors, art historian, art critic, and teacher O. Sosor was invited to deliver a free lecture titled “World Art History: Renaissance and Baroque” on October 9, 2026.
Renaissance art celebrates human intellect and capability. Gian Lorenzo Bernini, a leading seventeenth-century artist, was a major figure in the development of the Baroque movement. Baroque art is distinguished by its exceptionally dynamic portrayal of human movement and physical expression.
During the lecture, O. Sosor emphasized that Baroque paintings are characterized by dramatic tension, elaborate and densely composed scenes, and an expansive sense of space, while Baroque sculpture frequently emphasizes intense emotional expression and passion.
